Conversation Partner Training (CPT)
Before joining the main group, new members and their partners are offered up to three or four sessions of Conversation Partner Training (CPT)
This practical, evidence-based approach helps families learn how to communicate more confidently and effectively together.
What Conversation Partner Training Offers
Partner‑focused learning: Conversation Partner Training teaches family members, friends, or carers how to adapt their communication style to better support conversation.
Practical strategies: Techniques include using visual aids, simplifying language, asking open questions, giving extra time, and avoiding interruptions.
Confidence and connection: Communication Partner Training helps improve everyday communication and strengthens relationships.
Led by SLTs: Speech and language therapists deliver the training and use the sessions to get to know new members before they join the main group.
